DNS issue on LG Smart TV! Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Greetings all!
I will try and keep it short and sweet!
I am using 3X Powerline 500 XAVB5221. One is connected to the router and main PC, the second to a laptop the third is an LG Smart TV. The router is a Netgear N300. The PC and laptop do not seem have any issues connecting to the internet - just the TV.
On the TV I am getting this occasional error message after trying to connect and view any of the services - such as Iplayer, NowTV etc.
Network Error (3) DNS cannot be found. Please check DNS server settings or check with your internet service provider.
I have tried a factory reset on the powerline devices as well as exchanging the device connected to the TV. I have checked what settings I can on the TV but I cannot find anything obvious. I am assuming that is where the problem is likely to be. I may be wrong of course! The TV service does work most of time. It did not work this afternoon so at least I did not have to sit through watch BBC Masterchef on Iplayer.
I am certainly no IT expert so could someone give me a few clues as to where or how I should start the trouble shooting. Any help would be appreciated.
I would try giving the TV a static IP address including DNS Server addresses and try again. Give the TV a high IP address, soething like 192.168.x.250, so that you do not end ip with a conflicting IP address scenario. You should also be able to add yourDNS Servs in the manual config of the TV.
