Having Trouble connecting my Powerline 500 + WiFi (XWNB5201) NETGEAR POWERLINE AV500

I purchased the Powerline 500 + Wifi product to extend my internet from my computer room into my room on the otherside of the house. I plugged in the main adapter into my computer room and connected the ethernet cable from the powerline to the modem. The light on the far left comes up green, the middle light is amber and the far right light is blue. The other powerline adapter in the other room comes up orange/reddish. I understand it has to be green. How do I get to turn green? The second question, How do I work the WiFi conntaction on the NETGEAR genie? I downloaded the NETGEAR Genie but on the WiFi connection, I don't see any connection. My last question is on the NETGEAR Genie-Network Map, I don't see the Powerline icon. How do I access the Powerline icon the Network Map? Please help. I tried to call the customer service line and was transferred within 3 different departments for one hour. I increased my WiFi at Time Warner to 300MPS to stream at a faster speed. My computer room works fine but I'm trying to get my room a faster speed as well. This will enable me to steam my shows without stopping and buffering.

First get the stuff working with the Powerline devices in the same room, where you know that they are on the same bit of the power circuit. Then you will know if it is a problem with the plugs – maybe their setup – or with the mains circuit.

  • The larger unit with the blue third light is the Wi-fi unit.  That shouldn't be plugged into your router, but in the other room where you need Wi-Fi coverage.  The smaller of the two units should be plugged into the router.  Swap them around and you should have the extended Wi-Fi that you need.

    Hope this helps
