Need help to Boost Wifi and connect Hard wire device - Recommended product?
Hi
I have really slow Wifi in my Bedroom (my Wifi router is in my Lounge not too far away) and looking to boost the Wifi so I can easily use my Laptop and Phone with no issues of slow or dropping internet. I also want to hard wire my Amazon box through a Powerline in the same room.
Can I do both with the same set of devices? I need to have through plugs aswell as ive only 1 available plug socket which goes into an extension cable then half way round my room to power my wall pounted tv and box etc
I need something I can plug into my Lounge router and then into my available bedroom socket which needs to boost through the extension cable and into my Amazon box (hard wired?) and boost my wifi at the same time.
Based in the UK.
Any help with which product that can do this?
Thanks!
Jim

Couple things
1. What router are you using? firmware on it?
2. you state your bedroom isn't to far from the lounge. How far is "not to far"? It allows us to better determine if its an expected result for having slow wifi at that distance or if there's troubleshooting to be done for that aspect. What is the wall material in between? Concrete, brick, hvac, and foil lined insulation do a great job of blocking signals.
3. What wifi adapter is your laptop and phone using? Dual band/single band?
4.If you're looking for powerline with wifi built in, Netgear does have that option but it doesn't have a current version with wifi and powerline passthrough available. Passthrough is an option with the nonwifi powerline adapters.

Is this in the place where you have the router, or where you want to extend the network?
Netgear advises against using extension cables with Powerline devices. My experience is that it doesn't matter.
One solution to the problem is to have simple Powerline plugs between the "source" and destination, and to put a wifi extender or access point at the remote end. You can then plug stuff into the LAN ports there and use its wifi for other things. I have an Orbi router in AP mode at the end of a Powerline network.
But like plemans I'd like to know more about your router and the layout of your network.

Ive a Hub 3.0 with the latest firmware
The extension cable is in my Bedroom where I want to extend my network.
Im not looking to spend too much (under £60 approx) and want an all in one solution to avoid different setups and confusion and something I can take with me if I move. Would a powerline with wifi capability just do the trick? as that seems it would serve all my needs. Only really need 1 hard wire connection also and to ensure wifi is good in my room for laptop or phone when i need.
I tried the VM Connect app and it did flag as a black spot and said it rectified it but a speedtest later on shows differently! lol

Hub 3.0 might be what its called but we'd need a model number and name to help.
I couldn't find any Netgear powerline adapters for the UK that have integrated wifi and passthrough. I did find some from other companies but most were >£60.
What wifi adapter are you using?
have you tried changing wifi channels to help with signal interference?
Or changing the router placement to see if that'll help with signal broadcast?
