Netgear PL 1000 keeps disconnecting every single day
Hello,
For 1 week now I'm constantly having the same problem. Everytime I turn on my PC, in my office upstairs internet doesn't work because the PL1000 has desynchronised (POWERLINE LED = OFF). The PL1000 adapter pluged in the wall socket has disconnected from the adapter that is pluged in downstairs near the router.
The only way to fix this is for me to turn off my computer, unplug the PL1000, go downstairs, plug the PL1000 on a powerstrip pluged into the main PL1000, then it will immediatly re-sync, I can then take the plug, go back upstairs, replug everything and then my PC will have internet via ethernet cable.
I have been using these 2 PL1000 adapters for 1 year and had this problem maybe once or twice before, but now it's EVERY SINGLE DAY. If I turn off the computer and go to sleep, the next day the powerline adapter has lost sync once again ! I have to manually unplug the adaptor every day and it's getting extremely frustrating.
Anyone have an idea what's going on ? Is it a faulty unit ? Why is this suddenly happening today when I haven't changed my setup for over a year ?
- I live in a modern residential flat building which was constructed in 2008 .
- I have fibre cable, 200Mbps upload & download speeds.
- downstairs : I have a strip plugged into the downstairs adaptor with 2 equipments (fibre box and a security camera).
- upstairs : I have a strip plugged into the upstairs adaptor with : PC, Screen, 2 lights, 1 sound system.

If so, one cause of this can be that your PL1000 has "Standby mode" enabled. That seems to be the default state.
Believe it or not, Netgear no provides a utility to control this. Fortunately, the ZyXel alternative does work.

You could also check the settings in Windows for any LAN connections that you make to the powerline network. These can also have a "sleep mode" that turns off the LAN port to save energy.
