Netgear powerline 200 for PlayStation TV and PlayStation 4
I have the Netgear powerline Ethernet extenders I bought off of Facebook marketplace to connect my PlayStation 4 downstairs to my PlayStation TV in my bedroom since my WiFi signal doesn't extend up here and lags, even when the PlayStation TV shows a 96% connectivity rate which is odd. I have 2 lights on 1 box that's connected to the PlayStation 4 via the Internet modem and 1 light upstairs... I have the downstairs box connected to a surge protector and the other to the wall. I've read and watched videos where you need all 3 to have it working right so obviously something's wrong. I notice the guy I bought it from had a "2" on one of the boxes and that one was downstairs so I took it upstairs thinking the 2 was a sign that it needed to be connected to the PlayStation TV, not the internet modem downstairs, so, I switched the boxes, and still no 3 lights.
Am I missing something? I'm going to try and plug the box downstairs to the wall instead of the surge protector and see if that fixes it tomorrow. If it does, great! If not, then what? Did this guy sell me a broken Netgear?? Because if so, I'll report him to Facebook and dispute the charge through my PayPal.
If not, does anyone know if the PlayStation TV is compatible with this model? Do I actually need both boxes hooked up to the wall and not a surge protector even though the one I have plugged into it is an expensive surge protector? Finally, do all 3 lights need to be on for them to work correctly? - thanks!

Do I actually need both boxes hooked up to the wall and not a surge protector even though the one I have plugged into it is an expensive surge protector? If you read the manuals and stuff for powerline kit, it specifically says do not use surge protectors.
Do not plug in Powerline products to a power strip, extension cord, or surge protector as this might prevent them from working correctly, or reduce the network performance.I use power strips but would not contemplate a surge protector. The "surges" it suppresses may well be the ethernet signal you want.
There is a manual for the XAV2101 somewhere at the end of this link:
