PLP2000 Adapter keep shutting down

I purchased a pair of PLP2000 Adapter and it worked for about 3 months with no issues. Lately (about 2 weeks ago), One of the Remote Adapter keep shutting down randomly (all 3 leds off). The one that is connected to the Router using one of the Ethernet Port does not turn off. The only one that keeps turning off is the remote adapter. I did not change anything and just like this I am having a problem. I have to unplug the remote Adapter and plug it back in the wall then it will work for a while and then turn back off. The Main Adapter is in my Office on the second floor and close to the router. The Remote Adapter is in my Master Bedroom on the first floor. I noticed that when I hold the remote adapter to unplug/plug back on, it is very hot.

My setup on the remote adapter is I have a Wireless Router hard wired to the Remote PLP Adapter and My TV is hard wired to the wireless router. This way I can get wireless connection anyway in the room and other divices can get proper connections thru this wireless router rather than depending on my Main Router (Verizon Fios).

Any idea how to fix this? I purchased these adapters about 4 monthis ago.

    Hi KPersaud,

    Welcome to NETGEAR Community!

Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry to hear about your experience with the product. For isolation, please try to swap the powerline adapters and see if the same adapter will fail. Please DM us the serial number of both powerline adapters. Make sure both powerline adapters are registered in your MyNetgear account.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need further assistance.

    Regards,

What happens when you swap the plugs around? It doesn't matter which is plugged into the router. If one is overheating – quite likely in areas where the planet is in meltdown mode –  then a swap will check that.

One thing to check is that "Sleep mode" is not enabled on the plugs. By default this is on.

I don't see how that can suddenly change behaviour, but you never know.

Unfortunately, Netgear abandoned its Powerline utility some time ago. The old utility doesn't work with newer Netgear plugs. So it is down to a third party utility to make this happen. The one that comes up here most often is from ZyXEL.

No guarantees that this will fix tour issue, but nothing lost in trying.
