Powerline 500 XAVB5201 not connecting to powerline

Today, I purchased the  XAVB5201 powerline adaptor. When I plugged both AV adaptors to the router and computer, the powerline LED stayed amber green for a while before switching off. It occasionally goes amber green for a while before turning off again.

I cannot get my computer to connect to the internet using this product as the powerline connection seems to not work. I've tried factory resetting multiple times and I has not resolved my problems. I have tried the network connection to boths a Windows 10 laptop and a Macbook Air with no amount of success. One thing to note is that I live in a granny flat (separte room) away from the house that has the modem in which on AV adaptor is connected.

I would appreciate any help to get this thing working!

Set the two plugs up side by side and then move the "mobile" one – the one not permanently connected to the modem/router – to where you want it.

Okay, so I've tried that and it seems to be working so far! I'll report back if there are any problems but at the moment I think you've solved my dilemma.

      Thanks a million :)
