n300 mini wifi adpter cant detect 5ghz wifi network

it sees and connects to the 2.4 ghz network but not the 5ghz. the router is broadcasting the network and my other "n" adapters can connect.

N300 is not a Netgear model number. It is a wifi speed indicator.

The usual reason why a device cannot see 5GHz is because it does not support it.

Guess not. The manual says nothing about 5 GHz:

        >>>> WNA3100M | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<<

The technology has moved on a lot in the five years since Netgear released that device.

        Problem solved?

You can buy a 5GHz equivalent for next to nothing.
