Do you have an old usb adapter to check witch fault is it. Can you try the WNDA4100 on another laptop with different OS?
I have an outdated Macbook Pro. I do not know if the adapter will work on it. The Macbook has built in wifi connectivity.

I own a 17 y/o Dell dimension with nearly all parts still working from the purchase date apart of the HDD and 3 sets of screen! 1900 days continuous connection to emule!!!
