poor speed

I cant get my a6200 to connect at any other speed than 175mbps whilst connecting to a asus rt AC66u router, i have tried all the different netgear drivers, and 2 different laptops and a desktop, yet my edimax ew 7822uac adapter connects flawlessly at 650mbps .

Any advice would be appreciated

  • Same here... connecting to an R7000 at 5Ghz signal....

    What should it REALLY be?

If you already tried the driver update and still having problems, contact support and open a case, which is ridiculous IMOP.

return it and by the edimax ew 7822uac adapter
  • OK, really ODD, today it shows 866Mbps as the connection speed? Nothing was changed, on the router or adapter?

We did start having complete internet dropouts (both wired and wireless connection) yesterday. This morning I re-booted the router before we booted the computers? Maybe that 'fixed' it? We'll see...

Still isn't the max. (1300Mbps) one can reach, but above the 600Mbps the lower 5Ghz speed can be set too. Computer and Router (R7000) are in the same room 12 feet apart. The adapter is on the desk near the monitor. Router is near 2 modems, one phone, the other internet. Possible that re-positioning might improve speed?

Forget about 1300 it will likely never happen with a USB adapter, 866.7 is the best you'll see for now. My understanding is presently the only 1300 clients will be made for desktops and will have a external antenna. Using a another AC router as a bridge might see 1300, but I never tried it.

Cordless phones using 5.8mhz could be a problem, if too close and it's being used.
  • Wait a little while, it will probably drop back down to 175Mbps.

I have tried an R7000, R6300v2 and an ASUS RT AC66R router and it always dropped from 866.7 to 175 after about an hour or two of the wireless not being used. Resetting the router, or simply logging into the router and going into the radio settings page and clicking "APPLY" would fix the problem for a while. Didn't have money to play with to try a different wireless AC adaptor. Returned all three routers and went back to my trusty WNDR4000.

Being it happened with three different routers now makes me thing the problem lies in the A6200 adaptor, unless these three routers share a common Broadcom chip and there is an issue that isn't being addressed.
