Windows 10 (A6100 A6200 A6210) Installation Heads Up
As a heads up, DO NOT install Netgear's driver package for your A6xxx device on Windows 10. It permanently removes Windows 10’s ability to access the WiFi Connections list. Instead, use the defa...

For problems with the windows 10 included driver with the a6210 (e.g. no 5ghz networks visible) just use the latest driver from mediatek (5.1.21.0).
It is the newer version of the driver that came with windows 10 and with it i can join my 5ghz wlan, which wasnt able with the old one!
The chip in the A6210 is a Mediatek MT7612U.

Netgear have been working on Windows 10 compatibility for quite some time, please see here;
However it’s very difficult to develop and test for all computer configurations, especially where Windows 10 has been updated from an existing OS version as compared to a fresh install.
So, Netgear are quite aware of the issues highlighted in this thread and others and are very actively working to resolve those issues.
To assist in the most rapid and complete solutions Netgear engineers would be most grateful if people could provide some specific information. This thread is now somewhat confused as it deals with three different adaptors, and each has its own driver.
Please answer as much of the following as possible in a reply to this thread;
- What model of adaptor are you having issues with?
- Is the Win10 install a fresh install or an upgrade?
- If an upgrade, from what version of Windows?
- What is the H/W model of the PC/tablet/netbook?
- What driver version are you attempting to install?
- Did you try installing with AV / Firewall disabled?
- What error messages do you see?
- If no error messages what failure of functionality do you see?

I have the following setup
Netgear A6210 Wifi USB adapter
Windows 10 Home edition 64bit (fresh installed currently, Originally it was an upgrade from Windows 7 Premium 64bit) Performed a Restore function after problems with Netgear drivers.
Custom PC with ASUS M5A97 V2.0 Motherboard and an AMD FX(tm) 8320 eight core processor
8GB Ram
Unsure which version of the Netgear driver i attempted to install as my Restore function in windows wiped out the downloaded files
I do know that it was whatever version was available as the most current on the netgear website on August 2nd.
I received no error message
While in the upgrade process from Win 7 to 10, I could not completed the upgrade as the upgrade could not proceed past the login screen after the first restart of the PC. contacted Microsoft and was told to perform a fresh install of Win7. Wiped hard drive, installed win 7 and loaded all current drivers and software for running PC only. then attempted to upgrade again to Win 10. Again it stalled at the login screen after reboot during installation. Tried a couple of things and ended up removing all peripherals including the a6210 from my system, Login screen then proceeded and was able to finish the install. Tried to uninstall the old netgear genie and installed the one rated for Win10 and it never said finished, the window closed after i got to the point it says to insert the USB adapter. It would never go beyond that point. I could also not open Netgear Genie even after a reboot. I also lost all ability to see networks in my wifi connections list. I decided to RESTORE windows at that point and since, have not even attempted to try to run my a6210 and have just used an ethernet connection until the drivers are fixed.

I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit edition
PC Spec
Asus Crosshair V Formula Z 990FX AMD
AMD FX8950 CPU
OCZ Vertex 4 SSD
Nvidia Gforce GTX780ti
Wireless Card is the A6200
Upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit initially, PC hung on login screen.
A6200 was installed using the Genie interface.
I then did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and installed the latest A6200 driver from Netgear and the Genie.
The Network card can see and login to the network but constantly cycles between connected / disconnected.
Connection speed was typically 870 MB/s prior to the Windows 10 installation.
Currently usng the internal nic to connect via a old Netgear range extender.

- Is the Win10 install a fresh install or an upgrade? Upgrade Windows 8.1->Win 10 Technical Preview (Various Versions) -> Window 10 Pro 64-bit
- If an upgrade, from what version of Windows? Windows 8.1/Winows 10 TP
- What is the H/W model of the PC/tablet/netbook? Custom, MSI Z97S Krait motherboard, Intel i5 4590
- What driver version are you attempting to install? 1.0.0.30 and 1.0.0.28 and latest MediaTek - All present issues
- Did you try installing with AV / Firewall disabled? No AV/Firewall
- What error messages do you see? No error messages
- If no error messages what failure of functionality do you see? Unstable Wi-Fi connection, regardless of 2.4g or 5g. With a constant ping running to my router, will see lots of dropped packets and occasionally loss of connection completely. No pattern that I can discern. Have tried turning off various power management features for the deivce.

My adapter keeps disconnecting after a period of time (time varies). Also, does not reconnect after a "reboot," only a full shutdown and restart. I can pull the adapter from the cradle and reinsert after 10-15 seconds and it reconnect just fine.

Well turns out the instabilities aren't completely gone: http://i.imgur.com/WU9rzbH.png
I'm getting fewer actual request timed out packets, btu still lots that are taking 3-4 seconds.
Going to try the Netgear recommended approach next and use a similar set of settings as dug_less provided.

ugh, I was hoping this wouldn't happen (the fix that's been floated around). :smileysad::smileysad::smileysad:
I guess I'm off to microcenter for a powerline adapter...

1. A6200
2. Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
3. Updated from Windows 7 Ultimate
4. Custom Desktop PC w/ ASUS Z-37 Plus Intel Motherboard (DXDiag information)
5. All Windows 10 compatible driver versions both standalone and with Genie software
6. AV / Firewall were both disabled during install attempts
7. No errors, drivers will install and device will show up in Device Manager, and networks are discoverable.
8. Device will intermittently disconnect from wireless network at random (router has been ruled out as other wireless devices stay connected on both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies). Event 10400 prevalent in Windows System Event Viewer when disconnection occurs.
Thank you Andy for this response and Darren for responding to my separate thread. I hope my information and hours of info gathering are of benefit.

Answers:
1. A6210
2. Upgrade.3. Windows 7 Ultimate.
4. My intel-derived main machine works fine with the A6210, it's just one of my other AMD machines that's having the problem:- AMD FX-9590, GA-990FXA UD7 (rev 3), 16GB DDR 3 RAM, AMD R9 Fury X
- edit: I did get in contact with Gigabyte about the relative lack of drivers for the 990FXA UD7, but they simply sent me a link to the lesser UD3 motherboard. Here is the transcript:
"
Hi, When will you be releasing the 990FXA-UD7 motherboard drivers for Windows 10? I've upgraded to Windows 10, but am having difficulty with installing the network adapter. Any help would be appreciated. 8/7/2015 3:25 PM Answer: Hello,
You may download the Realtek LAN driver on Gigabyte website.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4001#driver
8/10/2015 9:07 AMProduct Info Product Name: GA-990FXA-UD7 (3.0) BIOS Ver: FC Brand: GIGABYTE Model: FX9590 Operation System: Win 10 64-bit Brand: Kingston 5. v1.0.0.30, though also tried v1.0.0.28 and v1.0.0.25.
6. With and without with no luck.
7. None.
8. The computer hung on the Welcome screen before you initiate the Windows 10 desktop. It only resumed once I'd removed all the USB peripherals from the computer. Though I'm not sure if that's relevant due to being a Windows 10 issue, I've heard of others having to do the same when installing Windows 10. Within the device manager it will recognise the A6210 adapter when the 1.0.0.30 drivers ARE NOT installed (simply by either plugging it in or by right-clicking and going to 'scan for hardware changes'), however it fails to display any networks within the list. After I install the official drivers however I am able to see the networks, but when I try to connect to mine, it displays the word 'Limited' and still won't connect me at all to the internet.

- What driver version are you attempting to install? I tried 1.0.0.30 driver and now have Mediatek 5.1.21.0 2/2/2015 driver installed A6210 genie has been uninstalled.
- Did you try instaling with AV / Firewall disabled? No.
- What error messages do you see? Intermittent packet loss.
- If no error messages what failure of functionality do you see?
Have now installed Mediatek latest driver .21 and some improvement.
With old driver, built-in adapter is disabled when A6210 plugged in with Channel conflict msg obscured at bottom of Win network settings popupi.
Now with .21 get A6210 (set for 5G only) SSIDs and 2.4G SSIDs on internal wifi both up.
Still loses packets on large file transfer but less frequent.
.... Just about to send this and 5G went to LIMITED and cant get network settings up although a 2.4G SSID has now connected automatically. Looks like a reboot to get network control back :-(

- If no error messages what failure of functionality do you see? After a while my transfer rates to my NAS via GB router drop from 25 to 15M. unplugging and replugging the adapter increase it back to 25M. The other issue is i will lose network connectivity completely with no warning or error. This happens while the pc is in use though not necessarily heavy network use. It does not for instance happen while transferring files to the NAS. I believe it takes time for this to happen. my pc remains booted for days at a time. Did before the upgrade too, without issue. Tried installing 1.0.0.26-1 standalone. didnt help.

The A6100 adapter.
Win10 was an upgrade
from Win 7, 64 Bit Prof.
The motherboard is Gigabyte
Latest for A6100 is 1026.1.911.2013 which was already installed on Win 7 above where it worked 100% of the time.
When the PC is fired up, the A6100 won't connect even when I enter the security password, etc.
After two contacts with NetGear's 'Support' people we got it to connect, on a startup by startup basis, by unplugging the adapter from the USB port and re plugging it
in. As long as the system is running everything is fine. If I put the PC to sleep, and wake it up, it still remains connected.
But, don't shut it down, else it's back to the unplug and plug activity.

Um question.... doesn't Microsoft give you guys a way in advance heads up on the new OS? I don't believe I have seen such ill prepardness in any release of Windows and vendors as I have with 10.

I had several problems installing Winodws 10 as many at the beginning of the public release but once installed very few, and all about software or device which needed an update to be compatible. Today, most of them but few old products with no more support are fine.
Again, I tried two wifi USB keys from the competition which work fine. I know when to blame Microsoft when necessary but in this case Netgear is simply not doing its job.

- What is the H/W model of the PC/tablet/netbook? Dell i3847-10000BK
- What driver version are you attempting to install? 1.0.0.26, Win 10 version (It's installed. I'm not attempting.)
- Did you try installing with AV / Firewall disabled? No (installed without problems with the AV active)
- What error messages do you see? Nothing obvious, just suddenly no more connection to the network. The event log always has a set of messages that mostly consist of event 10400:
'The network interface "NETGEAR A6200 WiFi Adapter" has begun resetting. There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets.
Reason: The network driver requested that it be reset.
This network interface has reset 13 time(s) since it was last initialized.' - If no error messages what failure of functionality do you see? About once a day, on average, sometimes more, the connection to the network disappears. I can't even connect to the router. Unplugging and replugging the USB dongle or disabling/reenabling the network connection restores connectivity.
(Also, although I installed the Netgear software, for some reason the Netgear Genie is visible only on my wife's desktop. I can't start it when logged in as me--simply no response when I try.
Finally, I have a dual-band router, FIOS Quantum Gateway G1100, but half the time the A2600 connects at 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz. Is there a way to control this? I've found nothing in the Genie that allows it.)
