that adapter was released in 2009. when windows 7 was being released. And it hasn't had much for updates as its eol.

Its also really slow compared to current generation equipment.

One fo the generic windows drivers might work if you already have that USB adapter. Try plugging it in and seeing if anything self installs. You could even try one of the standalone versions from the support site.

but I wouldn't invest to much time or money into getting something that old/slow to work in newer devices.

Thank you for your answer, I will try it in the machine, as I have two brand new ones.

Thanks for your answer, I will try and plug it in the machine, as I have two brand new N-300 adapters and do not want to run ethernet cables across the room.

Two Windows 11 PCs can't even detect the device when I plug it in.

The NETGEAR WNA3100 N300 Wireless USB Adapter is generally designed for compatibility with Windows operating systems, including Windows 7, 8, and 10. I don't think it will work

No one is forcing you to update your operating system.

Keep the old one and put up with the consequences.

Review the release notes of the last released WNA3100 and WNA3100M standalone drivers - the WHQ drivers will be workable with modern Windows 11 systems.

Drivers installed, but will not see the USB adapter when plugged in.

Might be something to do with the USB drivers for the motherboard.
