Cannot connect , password not accepted

I purchased an AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Range Extender.  I followed the instructions as per the Quick Start guide and I have solid green lights on  Power, Router and WPS LED's.

On my iMAC I can see two new additions to the WiFi network, one ends with _5GEXT and the other _2GEXT.  When I try to connect to either of these networks I am prompted for a password.  I've entered my WiFi password and verified that the password is correct in my router set-up.

Despite this I cannot get connected.  After a short delay same password dialog is displayed again.

What I am not doing?

  • Just making sure its clear as I re-read mine and was a bit confused :)

If you haven't set it up yet, the wireless ssid/password should be printed on the device. Use that to connect to the extender and then go through the setup process. You can custom set the ssid/password for the extender while going through the setup process.

Did you try setting up with the smart connection wizard? Not all manufacturers implement wps the same.

What router are you connecting to?

    Firmware on your extender?
