Connecting an EX7300 Extender to a Nighthawk AX8 RAX80 Router

I have an EX7300 Range Extender and a Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 WiFi 6 Router (RAX80).  I need expanded coverage for the dead spots in my house and ethernet access points are not a good option for me.  I followed the Netgear Genie instructions for setting up the EX7300 and was able to connect and set up the EXT separate networks.  However, I don't want to have separate networks - I want one SSID.  As I understand, my router and this extender are capable of enabling the One WiFi Name feature but during setup, it never gave me the option (or somehow I missed it).  Am I wrong about this capability or did I miss a step somewhere?  Do either one of my devices (RAX80 and EX7300) not have One WiFi Name support?  I cannot confirm this with documentation or information from Netgear so I am asking here.  Thanks in advance.

  • They both have it if their on the current firmware. V1 of the EX7300 got the mesh feature in firmware 1.0.2.136

Which version is on the EX7300?

You can log into it and setup the single ssid function through the browser. you might have to rerun the setup.

you can find the manual and firmware here. https://www.netgear.com/support/product/EX7300.aspx

Just make sure you select the correct version as there's 2.

Thank you very much, plemans.  As you suggested, the problem was the firmware of the EX7300 extender.  New version is 1.0.2.144.  Once I updated that, I could see the One WiFi Name feature and now all is working as I wanted it to.  Double Kudos to you!
