EX6100 Extender not restricting Parental Controls setup from Router WNDR3700v3.

I have parental control set-up and working effectively (Genie) from my Netgear Router (WNDR3700v3)

A few months ago I installed a Netgear EX6100 Extender in my house, and expected the (router sourced) parental controls to be intact when using the extender.

To my surprise my, I learned (from my teenage son, and my own tests) that the WiFi connection to the EX6100 Extender has no Parental Controls (wide open).

Why would the EX6100 not retain these parental control setting restrictions ?

Is there a setup issue with the EX6100 that I am missing ?

Do I need a more sophisticated Extender that offers/passes such parental controls?

Any help is greatly appreciated, as I need the Parental Controls for all our WiFi sources !

    Hello Shawn2182

What you will need to do is log in to your router and find the DNS server that is being used this is typically shown in the Internet settings copy this down. Next you will want to log into your Ex6100 and go to Internet setup and switch it to Use a static Ip address here you will want to change the DNS to the same DNS that the router is using. This should make the Parental controls work on the extender.

      Hello,

I have the EX6400 - and have this same exact problem.   How do I find advanced settings from the user interface?

Also - it appears that the router is registering each device under the extender's MAC address, and not correctly using DHCP Relay to forward client MAC addresses to the router for IP reservations, etc.  Might this be the cause of the Parental Control issue?

      Thanks for any help!
