Humax FVP-4000T - wireless lan connection problems with Netgear modem and extensions
I wonder if you can help
I recently bought a HUMAX FVP-4000T Serial No 63710737402483
When following the instructions for WLAN from the Settings menu it always says the 'Network connection failed'
Looking at the screen when selecting the Network I have two available networks
NETGEAR (this has a weak signal as the base modem is quite remote
NETGEAR _EXT (this has a strong signal (all the bars filled) as the extension unit is plugged in 5 feet from the HUMAX)
On asking for the password I fill this in and press OK
The response is to come up with 'Network connection failed' - immediately ( does not even hesitate as if scanning)
My son was over today and we tried with his mobile phone as a HOT SPOT.
the HUMAX screen identified his network and on entering his HOT SPOT password the Network was connected successfully
WE tried entering an incorrect password and in this case the machine scanned for quite a while before saying 'Network connection failed'
This contrasts with the Netgear attempts which came up with 'Network connection failed' IMMEDIATELY
I have tried setting up a wired network using the Netgear LAN and this does work
Can you advise me what the problem may be and why this should occur with Netgear

Hi swedishengineer,
Can you please verify which NETGEAR Extender you are using?
Other than the Humax, can you try connecting another device/computer to the Extender's WiFi?
Is this your first time setting up the extender?

Hi, I am also having problems with a Netgear router connection. I can only do it wirelessly, the Humax sees the router but when I enter the password it fails to connect. I have tried numerous times so know it is not incorrect password entering. Please could you advise if there is a problem connecting to Netgear routers. Thanks. Peter

Hi peter-k,
Can you please clarify which Netgear router you have? Is it running the latest firmware?
If you change your Router to have No Security (no password). Will the Humax connect?
