My Rextender (AX1800) is working, but app can't find the router?

Weirdly I've managed to set the extender (AX1800 4-stream WiFi Mesh Extender) up, its all lit up in green and has done the trick to boost the WIFI in the downstairs area of my home. Problem now is the nighthawk app. WiFi is working strongly.

The App is saying 'ROUTER NOT FOUND' and go to settings > WiFi and join your routers WiFi network. Bizarre. I initially connected to the 5GHZ WiFi and then realised my device I need it extended for downstairs (WiFi irrigation) only accepts 2.4GHZ. So I did that through mywifiext

Now the app isn't picking up the network, but the extender is working. Bizzarre.  

Working on latest MAC OS.

    Make sure on the phone that private mac/ip address is disabled. Also make sure icloud relay is disabled.

        did you try factory resetting the extender and setting it up using the installation assistant? 

        Are you able to access it using its ip address (found in your router's attached devices list)
