Need password to connect WiFi extender in access point mode
My model is EX6400 AC1900, I’m trying to connect it in WiFi access point mode. All lights are green, I can select it from the choice of WiFi near me, but then it asks for a password. Nothing is provided in the instructions or the box or on the unit. Please advise?
Hi Hobbers,
If you are unable to connect to the extender with any of your password or access its' user interface, your next step will be to reset the extender and go through the setup process. Page 42 of the user manual on this link may help out. Page 13 of the installation guide here may also help out.

The full user manual is here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/EX6400/EX6400_UM_EN.pdf
Have you set up the extender yet? Or are you trying to do the setup procedure?
In AP mode, the ethernet port needs to be connected to your main network. If you've done that, you can also try reaching the AP over wired ethernet by entering http://extender-ip-address into your browser address bar. You should be able to locate the extender ip address in your router's attached device list.

Thanks for your reply. The instructions you sent are the same as the ones supplied. At point 4 it says to select either of the two WiFi extender options. Whichever I select it asks me for a password - just like whenever you join a WiFi network. So I can’t get to the point of entering any https address because I cannot connect to the internet via the extender. I hope that explanation makes sense? All points 1 to 4 are followed properly and the extender has the correct lights lit up. I have tried with an iPad and with an iPhone but no luck. I don’t see how to get past this point without entering a password.
please advise?
thanks

Hi Hobbers,
Are you able to login to the extender's UI using the supplied IP address from the router? This will allow you to confirm the password needed to connect to the extender's signal. Usually, it will be the same password as you main wireless networks' if you have selected that option.
