Netgear EX6150 Extender Installation
Windows 10 OS, ISP Cox Cable.
Just installed Netgear C7000-AC1900 modem/router. ISP is Cox Cable. It performs better than Motorola SBG6580 Gateway it replaced. I am now attempting to reconnect my Netgear Extender-EX6150 which was working fine with the previous gateway, to the AC1900. WPS connection attempt failed with no link to the router connection made. Second attempt to install the extender failed using the 'mywifiext' address in IE Browser. Now using wired Ethernet connection to router and Router Link LED lights solid green. But attempt to login in to 192.168.1.250 also fails. However, Netgear genie recognizes this wired connection as 192.168.0.22. Attempting to login to the extender using this IP address fails also.

Hello fjkndy
Have you tried to factory reset the extender? you can do this by holding the reset button for 10 seconds then try to connect it to the router.

Thanks, Darren, for help. Yes, I've reset numerous times with the same result. Maybe too many resets. If the extender can be seen logging into the C7000 gateway using Netgear Genie and displays in the Network Map as EX6150 with an IP: 198.162.0.22, we must be close. I compared the MAC address that appears in Genie as A0:63:91:CE:4E:A8 to the values on the extender label and note the only differences are there are two Mac addresses and the string sequences only vary in the last two positions where they end in :A6 and :A7.

Hello fjkndy
have you tried to add those mac address to the allowed list on the router?

Installation was successful after resetting c7000 gateway and the ex6150 extender, reconfiguring HomeGroup, and using Laptop not connected to the network with ethernet but with WiFi only. Logging into the C7000 Gateway via NetGenie at that point brought me into the install app dialog. The Genie had finally sensed AC1200 Extender. I could verify the default network names(SSID) were derived from the C7000 Gateway Network name. On the last panel of the install app I was able to enter my choices, I pressed 'Contlnue' and repeatedly got an Error 404. Waited several minutes, returned to the previous panel and again pressed 'Continue'.
Repeated the last step at least a half a dozen times but could never get past the Error 404. No confirmation from the install sequence dialog that the install was "Finished" or "Success". Nonetheless, I have a successfully connected the AC1200 Extender that allows remote Wifi to devices(cell phones, Laptop, etc.). I'm checking my network configurations and all looks good thus far. One of more wonky installations I've come across and I didn't think Netgear with its reputation could put users through this challenging a setup. Very frustrating. Many thanks to forum contributors' suggestions and experience which helped greatly in my case.
