So I finally found a solution to this and its pretty wierd. I used a readymade patch cable to test if it would work with that and lo and behold it worked!!!!
So I set to troubleshoot why it was not working with the cable I have laid from my living room to my bed room. I checked the readymad cable to see if it was any different. It was standard straight cable with two pair connections. So I thought maybe a cabling issue and I re-crimped both sides of my cable. And it would still not work!!!!!!
So then I checked the Lan port on the Belkin router in the hall and it had only 4 connectors(two pairs), the first three and then the 6th.
I checked my netgear router and it had all 8 connectors. So I thought maybe thats what is the issue. So I re-crimped the cable on the netgear side to only two pairs as above... and Lo and Behold, it started working!!!!!!
Very weird, because even though I was using all eight wires earlier, since the belkin router lan port had only 4 connectors it should have made jo difference.. but I guess that is what was screwing up the whole thing!!!! Thank You everyone and hope this is helpful to someone in future who might have the same issue!!!!!!
