Severe Throttling on bandwidth with Nighthawk extender upgrade

Hi,

Sorry it wouldn't allow my model in the subject bar, I am upgrading my older netgear extender (N600) to a Nighthawk AC1900 EX7000. I use this extender via Ethernet to my PC to boost the signal from upstairs. So i'm not using Wifi on it, I'm using it as a Wired connection to my PC.

With my previous device speedtest is giving me 83mbs down and 11.5 up.

Always worked out pretty great! After installing this new Nighthawk and connecting it, i'm getting 2mbs down and 12 up. I can't figure out why it's throttling my bandwidth so hard, but it's not going to work for me.  Just to double-check, I threw my old one back on and sure enough, no throttling. I'm going to need some assistance with this if possible. I need to upgrade but it seems like this is the most complicated upgrade of an extender EVER and this is my third netgear one. All the others were super easy to use and just worked without any trouble.

Thanks for your time, hope to hear something!

What firmware are you running on the extender?  Also, what router model are you using?

Everything i read says the Firmware is up to date on mywifiext.net.  It's not a router though, it's an extender. Model number in OP, but Nighthawk AC1900 EX7000

Yes, but the router could be related to the performance issue, so it's helpful to know what it is.

There are some issues with the newest 1.0.1.76 firmware. So you might want to try downgrading the firmware to 1.0.0.66.  https://kb.netgear.com/000059563/EX7000-Firmware-Version-1-0-0-66
