Two WiFi extenders (AC1200) clashing?

Hello - I have recently purchased and installed two Netgear AC1200 WiFi Range Extenders (updated to latest firmware), but am immediately finding that there are incessant network dropouts when connected to them. I am guessing that this is happening because they are both broadcasting on the same WiFi channel.

My internet provider is Virgin Media and I don't believe I can set specific wireless channels for each device.

What way can I fix this? I am guessing I could run one of the Extenders on 2.4Ghz and one on 5Ghz to alleviate the problem - but of course that would result in less speed on the 2.4Ghz one.

Appreciate any help.

    What actual extender do you have? (ac1200 is a speed, not a model)

    Do you have them set with separate ssid's? or the same?

    In terms of channels, if they're in extender mode, they have to be on the same channel as the router or they can't communicate with it.

    How far apart are they and how far from the router are they?

    Are they setup in a daisy chain setup or star configuration?

    Daisy: Router------>extender------>extender

    Star: extender<------Router------->extender

      Both extenders are the EX6120.

      They have separate SSIDs that I edited during setup.

      They are at opposite ends of my home - probably 10 metres apart in a straight line, but on different levels of the house. Each is about 5 metres away from the router, again in a straight line.

      They're in star configuration.

      I note that I do not get the dropouts when I disable 5Ghz mode on one of the extenders (thereby using 5Ghz on one and 2.4Ghz on another).

        I usually advise people to avoid running more than 1 extender for the reason of there isn't anything controlling the system and they can create interference with each other. I usually advise them to move to a triband mesh system.

        In your case, does it help to change which channels you're broadcasting on?
