unable to connect via wifi to AC1200 WiFi Range Extender

I have spent a lot of time researching how best to get a WiFi signal to our newly converted office in a summerhouse in the garden.  I am totally unable to connect to the range extender via wifi, i am however able to connect my laptop via ethernet cable and it works just fine.  How can I sort this out as I have now wasted over 2 hours of my day off and have got absolutley nowhere.  if I can't get it sorted i'll have to send it back under warranty and go back to the drawing board which is giving up, and noone likes to give up!  Any advise is greatly appreciated.

  • You need to provide more details.

What's the model of your extender?

Did you follow the instructions in the manual to set it up?

Did you successfully connect the extender to the main router's Wi-Fi network?

Does your laptop see the extender's Wi-Fi network?

Are you prompted for the Wi-Fi password when attempting to connect to it?

When you used Ethernet to connect your laptop, what did you connect it to?  The extender or the main router?

      Model: EX6200

Yes I followed the instructions (using WPS) and it connected no problem

The laptop and my (android) phone see both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz chanels

I get prompted for the password and when i put it in it won't accept it

When I connected via ethernet I connected to the 5Ghz EXT (extender)

Sorry I dodnt provide all this earlier, i was annoyed with it!  It does seem like it  just wont accept the password.  I am using, as per the instructions, the password for the main router, and yes I am putting it in correctly!

No sure if I should do a reset and start again maybe?:mansad:

Try connecting to the extender via Ethernet and then open a browser to www.mywifiext.net.  This should connect you the extender's management page.  Log in and check the Wi-Fi settings for the EXT networks.  You may want to re-enter the Wi-Fi passwords if they are incorrect.  Save any changes.  Then try connecting to the EXT networks via Wi-Fi.

So I did what you said, and I was up and running for 24 hours.  Now I have connectivity only via the main router even though both 2.4 and 5 Ghz lights on the extender are either amber and green or both green.  I have cleared the cache on my phone, forgot networks, added the passwords again and STILL nothing.  Not even the ethernet can connect directly to my laptop even though the extender is telling me that it is connected (with the 2 way arrows) and that I have a cable connected in port 1.  Is there anything I can do that I havent already done?  It seems i'm ok with hardware but not software!

        Hello kirstyhalf

I would factory reset the extender by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds then try to setup the extender again.
