when using EX7300 as access point with R8500 router can use same SSID?

Will the ex7300 in access point mode connected with the R8500 router allow the use of the same SSID?  If used in that fashion, will it create a mesh type network with easy hand off from one access point to another?

    Hello james2720502

    Welcome to the community!

Sounds like you're looking for a seamless roaming.

You can use the same SSID as the router but it's recommend that you use a different one.
The device does not support seamless roaming but it's still possible to make use of the same SSID as the router though there will be a slight hiccup in the connection.

      ElaineM,

Thank you for your response.  Yes, I am attempting to achieve seamless roaming.  I did not know the term.  To achieve seamless roaming would the wac120-Wireless-AC dual band access point in mesh mode be a better purchase?  Or, would you recommend another product?  Which ever, would it be compatible with my R8500 router? Jim

Normally, the feature you seek is not available with Home products.

This can only be found with the Business product line such as WAC720.
