Aug 06, 2024will it work !!!
i have a security camera, that's connected to my wi-fi. well i have it located outside my door of where i live, the walls are standard drywall, and the door is metal, and right now the signal strength is 65 - 70 %. if i use a wi-fi range extender, closer to that location, will it increase the signal strength significantly, or not. help of an answer would greatly be appreciated. thank you, who may reply.
good luck!
Hope it works well for you

if the signal strength were the camera is at is at 60-70%, it should be working fine.
So what actual issue are you having?

yes, thank you for your answer. that's true you are correct, and yes it does work, i didn't say it was not working. but with the signal strength i am getting, as i said at 60 -70 % the camera is not working to it's fullest capability. it just need to be at a higher signal of about 85 -100 % for it to work at it's top, best performance. So as i was asking, if i move a range extender closer to it's location, will the signal be able to reach the device, through the wall and door, as i have asked. i thank you for your reply.

I have mulitple cameras around my home and many function fine down to 20%. Most security camera's don't use a ton of bandwidth. it just need to be at a higher signal of about 85 -100 % for it to work at it's top, best performance.---it's not going to connect at 100% unless its sitting right next to the router. Wifi signals drop off quickly with distance/obstructions. So as i was asking, if i move a range extender closer to it's location, will the signal be able to reach the device, through the wall and door----Wall and door? Like extenerior wall/door? they do a great job of blocking wifi. What is your exterior wall made of?, as i have asked.----It might get a better signal but the range extender will still have a lower signal that its starting from. And single/dual band range extenders drop throughput (speed) by 50% by the very nature of how they have to work. So the camera might have a better signal, but its not necessarily going to have faster speeds. i thank you for your reply.
What actual issue are you having with the camera? You want to know specifics without telling us what issue you're having. And just saying "sure, get an extender" is easy to say but it might not fix your issue. Or might make it worse.
