WN3000RP Support
I purchased the WN3000RP WiFi RangeExtender about a year ago. The device set up easily and worked without any issues up until a few weeks ago when it just stopped working. I have been trying to connect it back up to the internet with no success. I have used both set up options (connect with WPS and the genie web browser) and neither were successful. The extender seems to connect to the router (shows a green light) both times but does not want to accept the password to complete the installation. I've tried to change the extender's name, changed the security option (WPA/WPA2, TKIP, AES) with again, no success. Any ideas for me? Btw, super disappointed in Netgear's customer service. From my understanding I am still under hardware warranty but in order for them to see if my hardware is defective I would have to pay the tech support fee - which to me defeats the purpose of a warranty. I'd much rather buy a brand new extender for the same price as the support fee would be. Any suggestions for me? Just trying to understand if this is fixable before I bite the bullet and buy a new extender.

Hi sjwtrip2,
Which WN3000RP are you using? (WN3000RPv1, v2, v3)
Have you updated your WN3000RP to the latest firmware? Has the WN3000RP been reset to factory settings?
Note: Do not upgrade the firmware using a wireless connection. Please perform firmware upgrade with “wired” or Ethernet connection only.- Write down all the settings which you changed from the default values, since you may need to re-enter them manually.
- Download the firmware and save it to a convenient place such as your desktop. Unzip if needed.
- Log in to the device using a Web broswer. The URL is http://www.mywifiext.net.
- Click Maintenance > Firmware Upgrade
- Click Browse and find the file you just downloaded.
- Click Upload. While the firmware is loading, do not interrupt the upgrade process.
Let us know how it works for you.

Hi NhanN, Im having the same problem as the person above. I followed your suggestion but cannot update the firmware because the extended is not working. It has no connection to the computer. The Netgear tech told me the software needed updating but wanted to charge to help me. Any other suggestions?

Hi dwitt,
Are you able to connect your extender directly to your computer via ethernet cable?
Please try this wired connection and access your settings to update your firmware.
Let us know how it works for you.
