WNHDE111 Internet access issues...
Hello All,
Hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction. I have the following setup and am unable to connect to the internet although I can access things locally (on the 192.1681.1.x network) just fine such as file shares. I am having problems accessing the internet from my Blue-Ray player or WDTV Live streamer in the following configuration:
Blue-Ray/WDTVLive<-->WNHDE111<-->WNDR3700<-->Router<-->Internet
192.168.1.157 & 156 192.168.1.201 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.1
The DNS servers configured on the FIOS router are the Open DNS servers. Devices connecting directly (wirelessly) to the WNDR3700 (used as a wireless access point only) can access the internet just fine including the WDTV LIve but I want to be able to access via the WNHDE111 which uses the dedicated 5Ghz band wireless of the 3700. The IP information on the Blue-Ray player and WDTV Live use 192.168.1.1 for both the Gateway and DNS Servers.
Can anyone advise on what may be happening here and why I am unable to get to the internet successfully with this configuration?
Cheers,
Vin.

- jmizoguchiVirtuosoput public DNS on player and see
- VinBobAspirantThanks but already tried that and still no good. Could the unit have simply gone bad on me? Is there anything else I should double check on as far as the configurations go? Thanks in advance...
- jmizoguchiVirtuosohave you ping both domain and IP address such as DNS and reply back either one?
- VinBobAspirantThanks for the help jmizoguchi. I actually cannot ping the router 192.168.1.1 nor the DNS address which is 208.67.222.222/220 - I can ping the WDR3700 and the Bridge itself as well as any devices physically connected to the WNDR3700. Sometimes I may get a reply back from the router 192.168.1.1 which may explain why I am able to get an IP address but it is not responding. Am I missing some routing configuration somewhere that needs to be simply setup? Just FYI, the WNDR3700 is connected to the router via one of the four LAN ports that go into one of the 4 LAN ports on the router. Thanks again for any help/advice...

diagram the network connection setups - VinBobAspirantHi There - I have an ethernet cable that goes from port 4 on the WNDR3700 to port 1 on the FIOS Router. Do you need more details? Let me know...thanks
- VinBobAspirantJust to add some more info. I performed a reset on the WNHDE111 to factory default and tried to connect the bridge to the WNDR3700 using the PIN method but it did not seem to work and simply timed out. I then tried the WPS and this didn't work either. The WNHDE111 is literally 3 feet from the WNDR3700 so I really don't understand why this doesn't work. I then manually configured the Bridge using the CD software and was able to reconnect again but I am still unable to ping the router. So I am back to where I was...
Interestingly, I looked at the router status information on the WNDR3700 and seemed to flip between showing a MAC Address entry of the Bridge with both the attached PC IP (1.158) address and then the actual IP for the Bridge. is this normal and if not, could this be a clue to the problems here?
This is soooooooooo frustrating..... - jmizoguchiVirtuoso

WPS or repeating using cross reference the mac address between both units? - VinBobAspirantSorry, I don't fully understand the question. I just simply used the Netgear utility CD tool to configure the IP address, subnet mask, SSID information, security etc. on the WNHDE111.
Not sure I follow the Mac address between both units. Can you please expand on this? I have also tried using the add WPS client mode (on the WNDR3700) and specify the PIN from the bridge and it tries to connect and eventually times out after several minutes...
I have now upgraded my WNDR3700 to the latest firmware of 1.0.16.98NA but not any better. I have also disabled the security (from WPA2 to none) but still no joy. I sometimes get a reply from the router (192.168.1.1) but it is very unstable and intermittent... however, I can ping the Bridge, the WNDR3700 and any PC/device physically attached to the WNDR3700 just fine from my PC connected to the WNHDE111.
Do I simply have a faulty bridge at this point or am I missing something somewhere? :( - jmizoguchiVirtuoso
