X6S Tri-Band extender -why does signal strength bounce from -40 to -100?
When using indicated extender with U-verse Pace 5268AC Gateway, Wi-fI Explorer app shows my signal strength on 2.4 ghz bouncing back and forth between -40 or so and -100 or so every few seconds. Am using same SSID for original and extended signals. What might cause this to behave like this?
Generally wi-fi performance seems OK for browsing and streaming with Roku, but wi-fi connected robot vacuum is losing connectivity and has to reconnect frequently. Could this be the cause? What to do about it?
Thanks.

What Firmware version is loaded on the EX?
What is the distance between the main host router and the EX unit? What channels are you using on the main host router?
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Thanks for reply. Been out of town. Answers to your questions:
Firmware 1.0.1.192
Approx 25 ft. from router
Channel 11 on 2.4 GHZ and 136 on 5 GHz
Netgear app shows my signal strength on 2.4 as 68% and 4 neighbors at 10% to 30%
Shows my signal strength on 5 as 70% and 1 other network at 14%
Closest neighbor lives over 100 ft. away.
Thanks.

Try 30 feet out with the EX. 20 feet is probably too close.
First get a laptop with eg inSSDer, turn off all wifi and walk around the house to review all other networks.
Then there is theorie to redure transmission power eg:
https://metis.fi/en/2017/10/txpower/
Select Europe as country to reduce the WIFI power(1W US vs 100mW Europe) , turn on the wifi APwith low power settings and test if there is just sufficient power to have a stable connection.
and just implement more low power Wifi access points if requiired..
