Enable parental controls
I have an open dns account with parental controls, but my genie ap will not let me enable the parental controls. When I slide the enable button it thinks for a while and turns it off.
Try the newer firmware.

What firmware version do you have on the device?
A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.Parental controls is among features that depend on what firmware you run.

Sorry, but life is too short to chase through all the Netgear hardware to find which firmware versions site on which devices.
