Important Security Update from NETGEAR: New Firmware Is Available for Your Product

I've been told by my isp that they push out firmware updates to their customers. Will the Netgear offering cause our isp connection to fail if the firmware does not match our isp's specs?  Or is this just for the modems their customers use?  Will the firmware update offering for our router not interfere with this?

I currently have the AC1750 Smart WiFi Router, model R6400

I am using Windows 10 on my pc 64 bit.

I received the following email:

I have a question about the Netgear firmware update.  Will this completely reset all my settings as well as my login ID and PW?  Will I have to completely redo my setup?

It was such a pain to set it up when I first bought it...took me over 2 hours to do because I kept getting a "set pw" notice every time I set a password.  I finally just left it with the final one I created and closed everything down....but the only way I knew things actually worked was when I closed out everything and restarted.  Then I rebooted my pc and was able to get online.

The setup process for Netgear is extremely difficult and frustrating, you would think they could have made it easier for users to work with.

I see where someone else has been experiencing the exact same problem I have trying to update the Netgear Firmware.  It would be nice to have a Netgear IT specialist get involved to help us fix this problem.  When passwords are not accepted even after resetting....Netgear has a problem.

Because of this issue, you can bet I will NOT purchase any more Netgear products....and I shall happily advertise such to everyone who I speak with regarding the Netgear product failures.

  • This has been a frustrating and useless exercise.  Netgear's system keeps asking me to "To view this page, you must log in to www.routerlogin.net.:80.: but the login won’t accept my netgear passwords.  I update my passwords and it still won’t accept them.

As I cannot use my passwords to get this firmware uploaded, I have wasted over an hour trying to get this to work. Netgear should make this easy for your customers.  Last time I buy their products.
