Internet speed

PLEASE HELP!
I have this R6220 netgear router with a dual band 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz.
I have my iphones connected to my 5ghz band, and my ps3 connected to my 2.4 because it doesn't supports the 5ghz band.
My internet provider is from Cox which is 50mbps.
And the problem im having is low speeds on my 2.4 ghz with an average of 20 mbps.
In the other hand in my 5ghz band im getting and average of even more at 60mbps.

And what i don't understand is why im getting that slow speeds on 2.4ghz if my router is rated for even higher speeds in my 2 bands.
I know 5ghz is faster than 2.4ghz, but my internet service is only 50mbps.
  • Hi Allan1515,

    1. What is the firmware version of the router?

    2. Have you tried changing the wireless channel?

    3. Does the issue persist on all the wireless devices that connect to the 2.4GHz band?

    4. You can try using a WiFi analyzer to check for interference.

  • Wifi speeds are magic, not science.

5 GHz is faster than 2.4 GHz by design.

Then there is the geography of your wifi system and the different wifi bands you use. Are there neighbour who may have stuff that fights with your system?

What do people usually get with a ps3?

I got neighbors but they are not really close enough to my house to interrupt my wifi.
