r6120 -firmware update?
so the last week or so my internet has been pretty terrible. Mainly it seems to drop devices off, i often get messages saying that I'm not connected to the internet, or the wheel just keeps spinning and websites are unresponsive when I push buttons, etc.
I noticed yesterday that I got an email saying my router had a firmware update that I should download.
My router does the updates automatically, so I checked and it had. I'm on 1.0.0.76 now, and that seems to be the latest firmware.
I'm guessing that's what is causing the problems.
I tried to check the date of the firmware update
https://kb.netgear.com/000062573
but I can't even get to that file to view it. it just keeps kicking me back to the main support page.
I'm typing this on my phone's hotspot, and its been eating my data.
my particular router model doesn't seem to be a good candidate for dd-wrt.
Anyone else having this problem, or have ideas on how to solve the connection issue without losing security?
Thanks in advance.
Theres a reasonable chance its the coax line from the isp. As I said, your power levels aren't bad but you have errors in the data. Plus the logs show errors with the isp.
You can always check your coax and remove any splitters, attenuators, or amplifiers. Check the link for kinks, damage, poor/cheap/corroded/bad connectors. Replace them if there are.
Then to covera ll the bases, you could factory reset and modem and the router and start fresh.

What modem do you have?
When it drops, do all devices drop or just wireless? (does wired devices drop)

Hi,
Thanks for the response.
Well, the modem is arris-sb6183
It does seem to affect the wired and wireless devices at the same time.
Do you have a screen snip of the modems cable connection page and logs? that lets us check the modem signal
