R6250 Drops all Wireless Devices when Access Control List Used!

Help,

I have a 6250 lates Firmware installed.  I use WPA2/AES no broadcast of SSID.  When I setup a ACL(Access Control List) and turn on ACL, everything is good, the devices I specify work, the devices I don't are blocked. However, after n number of minutes, all devices drop. Turning off ACL does not work, I have to either reboot the router, and/or turn off the ACL!    The reboot tells me the router is flaking out, memory or something else. If I can't figure this out, I will move on to a new brand.... I used to never have trouble with Netgear equipment, but now I am reconsidering!

  • Really, so just how many times to you want me to try to reset to factory, 2, 3, 4 times?  Apparently you didn't read my last post, reset was tried!

I believe Albert Einstein coined the following: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I believe the issue here is that this model and/or firmware version, which is the latest, is infact flawed. My guess is a memory leak.

Thanks for wasting my time, guess it's time to move to new manufacture and product.

  • You should try resetting to factory default after a fw upgrade. Hidding an SSID and  MAC ACL arent a security measure. A strong wifi passphrase is.

Hidding the SSID, MAC Filtering and Strong Password are considered best practices, all of which are deployed, and yes a factory reset was done. I use MAC Filtering not as a security feature, but more as tool to control use from adolesence users in my household. You're not dealing with a novice here, and I would rather have no responses, than quick ill-informed assumptions, which are waste of my time. Thank You!

We do our best.. Try factory resetting the router. Best practice after a fw upgrade..
