speed slow down

I installed the R6400 Saturday evening. My speeds wired from modem is about 70Mbps, and it was close to that speed with the 5ghz frequency, the 2.4Ghz is about 30-35.  2 evenings later, I notice the speeds on both frequencies slow to about 20-25 Mbps. I connected to the modem and verify that the speed is where it should be, around 70Mbps.  I restart both modem and wifi router.  The speeds on devices connected to the 5Ghz is back to normal at around 70, but the speeds on the 2.4 are still alittle slow vs the first time I installed the router,  it was at 35Mbps.  So, speeds on the 2.4 are about 10-15Mbps slower.  I am running V1.0.1.12_1.0.11.

  1. why did both frequencies decrease in speed after a couple of days and how do I prevent this happening again?
  2. why is the 2.4 slower from the first time I installed it and how do I get return it to the previous speeds?

  • Hi articaine,

    1. On both instances, it may be caused by wireless interference. You can use a WiFi analyzer app/program and change the channel for the wireless bands to the best available.

    2. Does the issue persist on all your wireless devices?

    3. Have you tried reflashing the firmware and resetting the router?

  • 1. I ran through all the channels on the 2.4 ghz and seems to resolve the issue. There didn't seem to be a bunch of wireless near me according to a program for finding wifi
    2. It was on all the wireless devices
    3. No.
