Two routers; do I need both?

I have two routers:

N300 Wireless Router (WNR2000v3) and AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Router (R6120)

My son in law had me get the AC1200 because I was working VOIP. The connection has always had issues.

1) Do I need both?

The AC1200 does not have a coaxial port but DOES have a USB port. Currently the Modem (Spectrum) is connected via ethernet cable from AC1200 to the N300 internet port.

Am I able to get rid of one of the routers or do I need both? I no longer work VOIP.

Thank you in advance.

  • The R series is a bit newer than the WNR series. Both are of older generation. Try the R series router first and if it's not working well, try a RAX series as these are newer generation routers.

  • You should get rid of both those devices and get something half decent.

Both those devices are old 10/100mbps devices without the capability for gigabit.

And both are pretty low performing for wireless specs.

But if they serve your needs, stick with the r6120.

If it was me? You can pickup renewed/used devices that are much newer, higher performing for pretty cheap
