WNDR3700V2 DNS resolution

New to this stuff  Have run DNS resolution tests on 2 computers on same router  one says using internal dns  192.168.1.1 & the other a level3 communications server 4.2.2.1 resolvers.level3.net

The internal is faster  1? - why different for the 2 computers - both hardwired to router?   2? can this be changed for the slower unit 4.2.2.1?

The slower unit is actually a faster computer but often delivers webpages slow or not at all 3? Whats going on ?

  • Whoops ! Turns out during a tech mainteanace activity the DNS search was converted from automatic to manual  with 4.2.2.1 as IP . Not sure if this was the cause of delays but highly likely

    Hi Davee3

    Welcome to the community!

What's the OS of the two computers?

Are the DNS addresses assigned statically or dynamically?

Try flush dns command on the computer that has a slow connection.

You may go to the command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter.
