Why is it that when I select my 5G it says it is out of range when my router is right underneath my device

The control you shown this has not fixed anything - as it does not change anything on the router configuration.

We're always keen to learn however.

Help us out here with a bit more information.

    What Netgear hardware is this?

What are you using to connect to the 5GHz wifi?

Apologies for the questions. But you can help people to help you by providing the information suggested in this forum's header:

Subject (Include model number and brief summary)
Model (Recommended - Helps the community give the best answers)
Body (Include additional detail including model version, firmware, OS and environment where relevant.)

They are there for a good reason.

The model number is 28743565. Took a photo of the back since I have no idea what to select in your list. It is a Netgear81 and I attached a photo of the back of the router. It says that the WiFi is out of range when it is located right underneath my android box

That is not the model number. Your picture cuts off the bit that shows the model number.

Netgear81 is the SSID, the wifi source that you should connect to, using the password in the slot underneath it.

Is that what you are using when you get the "WiFi is out of range" message?

you can feed in the model number and find all the documentation for your hardware.
