Ac1750 r6700v3 Recently during use it just drops me off the internet, a few secs later works
When using the internet it periodocally just stops working and says no internet connection. when I click reload it usually comes right back on. sometimes if i just wait a few seconds it just resumes connection automatically. Yesterday during a soom call peoples voices were breaking up and the screen was freezing for a second ot two. In addition I did receive a couple of "Internet is unstable"
messages. Spectrum my isp says their modem is working properly and say it is probably a router problem.
I should add this is happening on my pc which is hard wired directly to the router.
any ideas on what the problem might be and how I might fix it?

Does it happen on other devices or just the pc?
What firmware is on the router?
What modem/gateway is the router connected to?

I only notice it on the PC.
How would i find out what firm ware it is using?
It is connected to a Spectrum Modem (no other name on it)

No other device has the issue at all? if not, I'd be checking the device.
Firmware should be on the status page if you log in through the browser

Other devices connected to your LAN may or may not require the capacity of your internet like a Zoom video call.
Your ISP (Spectrum) modem has to have a tag on it as required by the FCC. Possibly on the very bottom!
How do Ookla speed tests run from your ethernet connected PC, both upload and download, compare to the capacity tier you are purchasing from your ISP?
Possible areas of concern:
Your coax connection that supplies your modem. (grounding, bad connections, splitters, etc.)
Is your modem also a combination modem/router device? (back to that FCC tag with device manufacturer and model number)
The firmware version on your router.
Ethernet cables/connections.
The configuration of the router relative to domain name servers (DNS) and some of the Netgear bells and whistles features such as quality of service (QOS), traffic monitoring, UPnP, IPv6, and etc.

I appreciate your help.
my firmware is VI.0.4.122
As I said my modem is a Spectrum modem, but I did find the tag:
s/n 2107CVXP00341 PC2.0, CM MAC: 7C8FDEF7C680, MTA MAC: 7C8FDEF7C680 HW VER 1.1
I have not noticed being dropped from the internet on any other devices and it was mentioned that I should check the device that is having the problem, my pc. I am not sure how to check my pc or even where to look.
you mentioned a number of possible other areas of concern, ie cable connections, splitters, those are cable (isp) issues aren't they? Spectrum says the modem is working properly and they would like to blame the router. is there a way I can analyze my router to see if it is functioning properly?
If it is a cable problem I can get them out here again to fix it, but if it is a router problem I am not sure they will do much.
Thanks

what speeds do you pay for (upload and download)
Its only the wired device? got a wireless adapter you could connect it to?

My Ookla speed test on the pc which is hard wired to router:
ping 16, Download 96.1, Upload 10.14
I also ran it on my iphone which is on wifi through the router
Ping 20, Upload 237.53, it does not show an upload speed. Shouldn't it show ul speed?
Ping 16 DL 96.1 Mbps and UL 10.14Mbps on my pc are probably all I really, but I have to ask why is my DL speed much faster on my phone which is connected only by wifi, than my pc which it directly connected with an ethernet cable? Also why don't i show an up load speed on the phone speed test?
Thanks again.
