Cannot connect after newest firmware update for Microsoft Surface Pro 3
Hi, I have upgraded my Surface Pro 2 to Windows 10... had no issues connecting to R7000 on 5G band. After upgrading the R7000 firmware to the latest version (V1.0.4.30_1.1.67) I am now having issues connecting on the 5G band. Tablet must be adjacent to the router to connect on 5G band however once connected is connection is maintained at a distance (approx 50 feet). However if I choose the 2.4GH band I have no problem establishing initial connection at a distance. Is anyone else experiencing this issue and is there any fix?
Thanks!
Thanks a bunch, I went through all the processes of "Factory Reset" and that certainly didn't help. I took your advice and instructions on reverting back to 1.0.4.28 and it worked like a charm!
I now connect my Surface tablet automatically at a distance of 50 feet or so through 3 walls out on my deck (as far as I've ventured so far) no problemo!
With the latest firmware I had to be sitting next to the router. The latest firmware really is baaad!
Thank sagain for your help!

Did you factory reset the R7000, after the firmware upgrade?

Why would you have to do a factory reset just after appling a firmware upgrade?
I'm running into the same issue as mentioned in the above post. I had to revert the upgrade back to V1.0.4.28_1.1.64

Step 1 of the firmware upgrade instructions states “Write down all the settings which you changed from the default values, since you may need to re-enter them manually.”
This is a general statement that is included in practically all firmware upgrade instructions, and it’s there for the purpose of factory resetting if issues arise. It’s quite possible that a firmware upgrade can be issue free, and a factory reset is not required, but hundreds of posts on the Netgear forums over the years have had issues resolved simply by factory resetting and manually re-configuring following a firmware upgrade. There are also rare occasions, particularly where new functionality has been added, where the upgrade instructions will require a factory reset.
