Macbook Pro cannot connect to RAX20

Macbook pro cannot connect to Netgear router.

Macbook Pro cannot connect to RAX20 (about 1 meter away from router), cannot see two SSIDs.

The same Macbook can connect to a Netgear WAC124 setup as an Access point.

Also same device can connect to a TP-Link Access point.

Just updated router to new firmware Firmware Version V1.0.3.96_2.0.59

I had a similar issue with an iMac a couple of months ago....I gave up on that one and no longer have the iMac.

When I do a network scan it does not show any SSID from the RAX20. Google shows many similar issues with apple devices.

Any help with this appreciated.

Many Thanks

Frank

  • Not that I know the answer, but there some basic unanswered questions...

    > Macbook Pro cannot connect to RAX20 (about 1 meter away from router), cannot see two SSIDs.

So you unplugged everything and let it sit unplugged for above 5 minutes?

After restarting the RAX20, do the appropriate lights on router turn on/blinking?

Are the antenna still connected tightly?

Access denied via web or phone app?

Do SSIDs still work, regardless if displayed?

MacbookPro able to connect to a different router or just your Netgear?

If you give up on the MBP, can I have it? :)

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the NightHawk RAX WiFi 6 Router products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with NH router products and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

    Thank you.

My apologies for replying to Frank's message in situ. But the original post had no air

of being router-specific, and my reply had only basic questions someone else would

need to ask as well in order to cut down on "playing the guessing game". Although IMO,

it seems wrongheaded somehow to go down such a specific path (i.e., your first link)

for something that appeared to be neither WiFi 6 nor hardware-related.

Thanks for the second link though.

Had a firmware update yesterday....device can now see all the SSIDs and can join....so the firmware fixed it I guess.
