Netgear R9000 10Gb SFP port question.

I have a Netgear R9000 router that has a 10Gb port via and SFP adapter.   I have tried 2 different SFP+ adapters and neither of them work.  In fact they both get very hot to the touch and I turn off the router to avoid damage.  Is there any SFP+ adapter to ethernet that will work with this router.   I have 2.5g internet (ethernet output) and I also plan to use wigig 802.11ad wireless connections.   I am using "multi-gig" switches that have port aggregation that can be used with the 2 ports on the router if this is a possibility.   otherwise I will just stay with wireless and 1g connections.

The main question is what 10Gb SFP+ adapter will work with this port?   I would like to use 10G copper if possible.

I have called into Netgear support and got someone in India that didnt even know what a SFP port was and told me to just plug a CAT 6-7 cable into it and it would work.  So no luck there.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

What brand and model is the SFP to ethernet adapter?

Last SPF to ethernet adapter I got was a CableMatters brand I think. 10Gb. Worked for me on my R9000 when I had it online last. Also worked on my XR700 as well.

FYI, the adapters do get hot. Not way around that. One can enable the internal router fan or put a usb 120mm fan under or on top of the router.

Did you enable the SFP port and configured it correctly? How is the router configured for the SPF port?

Be sure to use CAT6A STP cabling between the SFP adapter and your connected service point.

      I have the latest firmware.

The ISP device is a Nokia XS-010X-Q

      https://www.al-enterprise.com/-/media/assets/internet/documents/nokia-ont-xs-010x-q-datasheet-en.pdf

      I have tried SFP+ adapters

      Cable Matters 104068-N

      XZSNET XZS-SFP10G-T

neither work and get VERY hot.  they are so hot you cant touch them for more than 1 second or get burned.

Even when I set the Wan port preference to 10g radio button it never shows a connection.

I am either doing something wrong of these adapters are not compatible.   They both say SFP+ and list Netgear as compatible though.

you mention the internal fan having a method to turn it on,  how do you do that?  I cant find it in the web management or the manual.

      thanks

Used this one from Ipolex for a couple of years without issue.  Nothing noted from the standpoint of heat generation.

The connection was between a R9000 and the 2.5 Gbps port on a CM2050V using a Cat 6 STP cable.  The R9000 has since been removed from service.
