A bit baffling indeed that it's been around 5 months and this firmware still isn't officially released. If someone could send me the R7960P beta, that would be great!

I have the R8000P bug where I cannot assign/reserve internal IP addresses on the latest publicly available firmware (V1.4.4.94_1.3.56).
FURRYe38If you could please PM me a link to the latest R8000p beta firmware that may address this, I would greatly appreciate it.
This is the last Netgear/SOHO router/AP combo that I will buy in general. Sick of this BS.

I am still running v1.4.3.88 with IPv6 enabled which seems to have fixed the DNS problem, but I get network dropouts during the day and I am totally fed up with other issues being reported with later versions of the firmware.
Thanks for your help.

Have you tired the beta yet?

I just upgraded to 1.4.4.94 on an R7900P when it was in Access Point mode and now I cannot log into the admin console via web. If I reset to factory settings and returns to router mode, I can login to the admin console. But If I change to access point mode from router mode, it fails to login again. When I use Chrome to access the admin console, it returns with an error "empty response." When I use curl it gives an "curl: (52) Empty reply from server" error.
If I downgrade the R7900P to a previous firmware release such as 1.4.1.42. It works fine again. But I don't like staying that far back on security fixes. I'm back on 1.4.4.94 and can't login to the admin console again, but it seems to retain the wireless configs and it's still working as an access point but can't login to the admin a console.
This is a reproducible problem.
Please fix this. This is a major problem as I use an Orbi RBRE960 for my main network and an R7900P for my IoT network. The RBRE960 IoT network is super slow. So I use the R7900P for IoT instead. I set the DHCP address of the R7900P from the Orbi RBRE960. And, I'm able to ping it.
if I use openssl s_client, I'm able to see the self signed certificate

Does this also happen in different browsers, Try MS Edge, FireFox or Opera?
FYI:
Might search for 3rd party FW solutions for your model router.
- SkyHopperAspirantYes this fails on any browser, chrome, MS Edge, and Firefox, and Safari (Mac). The fact it fails using command line curl is telling.

Hello, I am having the issues where I am getting the invalid MAC address error when trying to do an address reservation. I have the R7960P with firmware v1.4.4.94 running on it. May I get the beta version please.

I would like to try the beta as well.
Like many others I've got a R8000P with the MAC address issue. I'm betting they aren't handling the colon's in the string properly. Complete amateur hour that it's been over a year and no attempt to fix it other than some guy on a forum supplying a clearly dodgy beta file link since it's all by PM.
Think I'll just cut my losses, sell this on eBay and get a decent router.

I agree that this is an odd way for Netgear to go about things, but I think you can rely on the beta firmware on offer. It may not be from a staff person, but it is often seems like it.
I get the forum user is just trying to help others out but it's a completely bizarre way of doing things. Have Netgear even acknowledged the issue? Or since it's EOL have they just washed their hands of it and left everyone with a broken basic function of a router? Not being able to set a fixed address on your own LAN because Netgear can't parse a MAC address out of a string is completely mental. It worked in an older firmware, the bug is repeatable and it would take about 1 minute to fix it. The fact they haven't bothered to fix it speaks volumes for me.

The beta does fix the problem users have seen. The beta comes from NG direct. I'm just a messenger.
Good Luck.
