Nighthawk R7000 - drops internet to phones only

This has been happening for a couple months, but has recently started becoming too frequent. The internet will stay connected to most devices in our home, but will drop to our phones. Our security cameras/system, tv, etc usually all stay connected to the internet, but our phones will not. A simple restart fixes the issue for a couple hours, but this is becoming hightly frustrating and has started effecting the other devices more often. Any ideas on fixing?

    1. what modem/gateway is it connected to?

    2. what firmware is on the router? (please don't say the latest)

    3. when it happens, are the devices saying "connected, no internet", are they disconnecting from wifi entirely, what is actually happening?

It is a Netgear modem CM1100 - the modem is working just fine.

Firmware is 1.0.9.88 - I know this is not the latest, but Nighthawk app says no newer available.

      Devices say connected, no internet.

I can always log into the router via anywhere access in the app, even when my wife at home says it is not working while I am at work, so I know it is not the modem. The router worked flawlessly for about 3 months, then this issue started happening about once a week. Now it is every couple hours.

The idea that the router "drops internet to phones" is odd. Have you considered that the phones might be the issue?

The router isn't likely to boycott your phones. It is clearly putting put wifi. It is then down to the clients to play ball.

Have you tried the basic trick of telling the phones to forget the wifi connection and then reestablishing the link?
