Nighthawk r7000 Overnight Blocking

I'm trying to set up overnight blocking for a couple of my kids devices.  I have assigned permanent IP addresses to those devices in the LAN configuration panel and set the timer from 11pm at night to 4pm in the afternoon each day, but I'm not sure it's actually understanding that I want the schedule to start at 11pm and run overnight until 4pm the next day.

Does anyone know if it actually works that way?  I saw some threads say I needed to adjust my timezone one hour (to the detriment of the email notifications and Daylight Savings) and have it start at 00:01, and other threads said it works like I described above in the first paragraph.

The UI is wierd in that for Sunday for instance, I must select 11pm as the "Start Time" and 4pm as the "End Time" so it may not be recognizing the overnight period.  An older router I had showed the week as a series of 1 hour blocks and I was allowed to select all of the blocks which were included in the restriction time.  That would be a great feature.

  • I have too many other devices that connect to WiFi to have to turn it off for everyone and manually turn access on and off after setting up 2 profiles. Unfortunately until they have a better parental control panel, the only way to manage this apparently is by changing the time zone on the router by an hour and use the single window in the parental control panel for only the 2 devices I want to block. I'll have to adjust for DST and email time stamps will be off (I don't use that feature anyway).

  • Had the same problem before and what I did was I set 2 separate schedules. Since you want to block the access from 11PM to 4PM the following day, set the 1st schedule to 11PM-12MN and the 2nd schedule 12MN or 12:01AM-4PM for the following day.

Hope this will also work for you. :smileyhappy:

Thanks for the response - that sounds like a great solution.  Unfortunately my UI doesn't allow me to have more than one schedule.  I'm on firmware version V1.0.4.30_1.1.67.

I'm in Advanced>Security>Schedule.  Is there  a different location to set up a second schedule?

Are you setting the schedule for wireless devices? If so, go to Advanced > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings > Add new period button > Apply

Make sure to check the box where it says Turn off wireless signal by schedule then Apply.
