Nighthawk r9000 - bridge/Access point
I need some sort of combination of bridge mode and wireless access point and could use some suggestions.
I have Verizon Fios and need to keep their router as my main router. That router is located in the basement of my house. I have really poor wifi connection on the third floor of my house. I have a nighthawk x10 r9000 that I’d like to set up on the third floor of my house (without running an Ethernet cable from the basement) that I can use to connect my wireless devices on the third floor.
To be clear. I’d like wireless connection to the main router AND wireless connection to devices on the third floor to the nighthawk.
Welcome suggestions. Is there such thing as running the nighthawk as both a bridge AND an access point?

got coax ran through the home?
A set of moca adapters (ethernet over coax) would allow you to connect the fios router and the r9000. Then you'd just run t he r9000 in AP mode.
- JbienzGuideThank you. Great question. I’ll dig around and see if I can find any coax on the third floor.
For the sake of this discussion though, let’s assume I don’t. Any solutions that don’t involve wiring from the basement to the third floor?- plemansGuru - Experienced User
Powerline might be a decent option. But it can suffer from interference/distance issues so its connection speed decreases.
The r9000 doesn't have repeater/extender mode so you couldn't use that.
You could always get a decent wireless extender that has an ethernet port to connect it to but at that point, you might as well just use the extender and not the R9000.
You're a bit limited because the r9000 needs to be hardwired into something.
