Nighthawk X6 R8000 Wifi Issue

Hello,

I am having issues with my Nighthawk X6 R8000.

My cable modem is a Arris Surfboard SB6183.

The problem I am having is Wifi devices will stop working.  This occurs for 30 seconds to a few minutes.  The Wifi will show connected, but the device will report no Internet during this time.  During this time, the ethernet connected devices are not affected.  The problem occurs on several wifi devices, not just one.  This includes android phones and a Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

The router was updated to the latest firmware to rule that out.

When this occurs on the surface, the wifi icon has a yellow icon on top of it.  When this was occuring, I was still able to ping the router from the surface, though Internet access did not work.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing this (software or hardware problem) and how to fix it?

Thanks,

Kevin

  • Hi VBHS1999,

    1. Try changing the wireless channel on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.

    2. Reset the router if changing wireless channel did not work.

      Hi VBHS1999,

Have you tried to update the firmware to v1.0.3.32 and reset it.

  • Has a solution to this been identified?

I am having similar issues as described with wifi dropping on connected devices.

    Thanks in advance

  • Try turning off IP version 6 and the settings.
That seem to make a difference for me where I really didn't have that occurring every single time.
  • I recently bought X6 R8000 latest model. I configured it. There are few laptops connected through wireless, 1 printer is connected through Wired, and 1 NAS drive connected through Wired to this router.

    Problem I am having is:

When my Windows laptop is connected through Wireless, I cannot print anything. I did following troubleshooting while my Windows laptop is connected through wireless:

    1. Laptop can ping to printer successfully.

    2. Printer can connect to router.

    3. When laptop and printer both are connected through ethernet wire - Laptop can send print to printer and print pages.

    4. When laptop is connected through wireless, laptop cannot see printer as online and cannot print.

    Configuration of printer:

    FujiXerox DocuCentre SC2020

    Laptop

    Asus - Windows 10 Home 64 bit

    Any help will be appreciated
