Port Scanning by Comcast
Recenty switched my home phone from Comcast to another company (1-VOIP). Everything was fine until my old number was ported from Comcast. Since that finalized, I have been receiving really strange, yet continuos calls, every half hour or so. The caller id is "Out of Area", however, my suspicion is that Comcast is now or has always been port scanning and is responsbile for these strange calls. It is quite annoying and when it happens a 2:25 AM, a bit more than just annoying!
Is there anything that I can do on the router to suppress this actvity by Comcast?

You have the C7100V?
I wasn't aware that modem/router/voice device was compatible with any other isp (for phone) other than comcast. That might be causing your issues if its not approved by your ISP.
You are correct, they are not compatible. Tehy sent a device that connects through the wired ethernet connection. I think I may have figured it out... They gave me two port forwarding services that I had to insert into the router. However, after reviewing it just a bit ago, I noticed that they left the external IP address set to any which might explain what is happening. I changed to a single IP address (hopefully, I got the right one) and while I was able to dial in with my cell phone, no foolsihness yet! Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks,
Paul
