R6400v2 reboot loop - firmware fail
Last night i tried to update my firmware and it failed in some way. Now i have the dreaded flasing power light and believe it is in a startup loop. I have done all the suggested flashing methods including the windows TFTP and two other TFTP programs. It writes the file to the router with no error. I have done all the different reset modes while trying all the different techniques. This thing was working beautifully last night until the damn app was like Hey there is firmware update. i should have known better than to use the app but the fact is dont put it on the app if it is going to cause issues. I have tried several different firmware revision all the way back to the original. from everything i read this is a known issue with some sccess if you happen to catch it at the right time when uploading. I have tried over 100 different times doing it so many different ways. If anyone has the latest and greates way please let me know. Not fun living without wifi in a work from home world.
- try the nmrpflash. I've had luck with that when tftp wouldn't work

There's a lot of spots tftp can fail. Which is why there's the guide and a video I usually post.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
and here's a video walk through.

and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

Thank you. Idid follow your guide using windos TFTP first. and then tried two other programs i had not seen the nmrpflash. i will give it a go.

"R6400v2" is what's on the product label?
> [...] Now i have the dreaded flasing power light and believe it is in

else. What are the LEDs doing?

way about what "all the suggested flashing methods" might mean to you.> [...] It writes the file to the router with no error. [...]
Actual file name? Actual "tftp" command? Copy+paste is your friend.

If the "tftp" program completes successfully, then I doubt that
timing is the problem. Thanks for your reply. I have seen all your comments in many other threads and followed everything you had to say and many other.
- AC1750 Model R6400v2
- on power on it runs through all the lights, basically the all come on and then turn off, and then the power light comes on solid for about 10 seconds and then it flashes, thats it. if i plug a computer in i get white light of the port it is plugged into.
- windows TFTP is exactly as the Netgear says to do it and it successfully uploads. tftp -i 192.168.1.1 put R6400v2-V1.0.4.98_10.0.71.chk
- You had mention in another thread that if it did not take you may have to try again and experiment to catch it at the right time.
when trying to follow the directions of the reset right before the put command i can hold the rest down for 10 seconds power it up and continue to hold reset but then it will just continue to go in to resetting it does not come back to a flashing light like it says it should do 10 times before letting off reset.
