R7000 VPN not working on V1.0.11.128

I just noticed that my the OpenVPN server in my R7000 is no longer working. I can no longer connect to my private network from the internet.

I checked the advanced, VPN service tab and the service is enabled. Disabling and re-enabling the service did not help.

The log of my OpenVPN client shows that the attempt to connect fails with "Connection Refused". That implies the VPN server isnt even running despite being enabled in the routers admin interface.

Is anyone else having the same issue?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

  • Hi Dexter,

    Thanks for the suggestion.

This is a classic case of "user error"... My error :(

I had done a factory reset just before upgrading to 1.0.11.128. When I manually re-entered the settings, I forgot to change the transport  protocol from UDP to TCP.... Duh no wonder I was getting connection refused! Once I re-enabled TCP, the vpn is working again.

Hi pkaytes, please try updating to the latest firmware version (1.0.11.130) and check if the issue will persist. If it does, please try resetting the router and reconfiguring from scratch instead of reloading a previous config file. Let us know how it goes.
