R7960 Firmware update
Is there ANY possibility that Netgear will put thru a FIX for the R7960 router not being able to update its firmware? Mine has never worked and the links for a work around are well beyond my abilities and I am sure others too. I love the router but do not like the app or the 192.168.1.1 will not update to current functions etc. Just a shot in the dark here.

Most likely no. The R series model of routers is getting up in age and maybe headed to EoL.
Might have someone with more experience in your local town to help you with getting it updated if you really need it updated.
Can you please post me a link to that workaround that you are referring to? Maybe if I go slow I can try but afraid I will loose any existing function of my router if I do something wrong.

See if you can find a friend or family member to maybe help out as well.
